We’re recovering after another weekend jam-packed with Lone Star League and high school water polo. Time to re-cap and catch up on what’s coming up.
Tournaments Close Out Micki for Spring
Huge thanks to everyone who helped set up, clean up, run the desks, sell concessions, collect gate fees, and generally be good hosts on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend was another great success for us and contributes enormously to the growth of our club. Plus, we received positive feedback from several coaches and parents for our work. Well done to everyone and thank you!
Lake Creek
Yep, Micki closed precisely at the end of Sunday’s tournament. So we’re back at Lake Creek for all practices through April.
Lone Star League Game Day 2
Our 14u and 12u boys had their ups and downs on Sunday, winning their 12u matchup with Austin Water Polo, and falling to strong teams from Zilla and Boerne in the 14u division. Nico and David were Scorps ironmen playing, in David’s case, seven games (thus the sunburn). Nico especially showed his improvement in his 12u games, Joey continues to make unexpected saves, Luca has become the catch-and-shoot expert, Riley continues to harass opponents defensively, Nilmary (one of three lefties!) is making huge progress with her ball control. They and their Longhorn teammates worked hard and had a lot of fun. Spring championships are in just a few weeks likely to be in Boerne. Stay tuned, and nice work #Scorps.
AQTX Mini High School Tournament
Twelve games, twelve teams, some great local rivalries, and standout performances by our AquaTex athletes: another banner tournament for AQTX. If you saw an athlete performing at a high level on Saturday, it’s likely they’re an AquaTexan. Congratulations to all of them (there were a lot!) Only four more weeks of high school water polo so we’ll be excited to see all our players helping their teams be the best they can. (State Championships are at UT, by the way).
Southside Badger Brawl
The schedule is out for this weekend’s Badger Brawl. All our AquaTex 8th grade and under athletes will be playing under Coach Tom for Longhorn. First game on Saturday is at 10:10 AM against Southside Silver. Good luck, AquaHorns!
Junior Olympics
Much more detail now available about qualifications and the NJO tournaments in California this summer. Look for both “National Junior Olympics Qualifier” AND “National Junior Olympics” under “Events” on the AquaTex home page.
Gear
A reminder, since many asked where to get our awesome new white hoodie, check out our store at SwimOutlet.com. A portion of every sale goes back to the club.
See you on the deck,
James
