A short update this week as we settle back in to our summer schedule at Micki.
TAGS Water Polo Championships
Riley and Luca headed up to Keller last weekend to participate in the Texas Age Group Championships with Longhorn and Viper Pigeon. They helped lead the 8th grade and under team to a 6th place finish while enjoying the exciting amount of chlorine in the pool. Well done boys! See all the results here.
Welcome to TX Shootout
We’re stoked to have several of our 18u and 14u athletes participating with Longhorn at the Welcome to Texas Shootout in San Antonio, May 25-26. For those who haven’t done so already you must be age-verified to participate. Log in to your USAWaterpolo.org account to do so. The schedule should be available next Monday at the latest.
Junior Olympics
Longhorn’s deadline to commit to playing at Junior Olympics was last week, but we’re extending it for our athletes. If you are interested please take the time to read a much more detailed agenda, including very important deadlines, for both boys and girls.
Regarding the teams that we will be fielding:
- Our 12u coed will compete as Longhorn. The team will be comprised of Viper Pigeon, Longhorn, and AQTX athletes.
- Our 14u boys will compete as Viper Pigeon. The team will be comprised of Viper Pigeon, Longhorn, and AQTX athletes.
- 16u boys, 16u girls, and 18u girls will compete as Longhorn, only Longhorn and AQTX athletes.
- 18u boys will compete as AquaTex. The Longhorn 18u roster is already full. So if there is enough demand (minimum nine athletes) we will enter an AquaTex 18u boys team in the Zone Championships. Again, the deadline is looming so let us know immediately if you’re interested.
Thursday Practices
We won’t be having Saturday practices for (maybe) two months. So we’ve added Thursday nights to the practice calendar beginning on Thursday, May 16. Check it out here, and if you want to add it to your own calendar click on the “Subscribe” button up top.
AquaTex Masters
Some more news about our new masters offering. We’ll start on Monday, May 27. The two practices that week are no-cost. Beginning the following week masters athletes will have to register on our home page and sign up for USA Water Polo. Fees will be $50/month for a minimum of 8 practices. Our high school athletes are encouraged to stay to scrimmage with masters. 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Tell your friends!
See you on the deck,
James
