Champions! The 12u team runs riot, 14u and 18u end with strong Polar Bear League seasons.
Polar Bear League Winter Championships
Our 12u boys brought home gold at Sunday’s Lone Star Winter Championships after going 6-1 throughout the season. It was fitting end to the 12u careers of our boys, nearly all of whom have now graduated to 14u competition. Congratulations to Luca, Riley, Joey, David, and Declan, and to our friends from Longhorn who rounded out the roster. Plus, Coach Matt pockets his first gold medal as a youth coach.
The 14u Scorps lost tough matches to Zilla and a group of 18u girls from Longhorn to finish third in the division and having earned . Liam, the only AquaTexan slightly too old for 12u competition, was joined by all the 12u athletes and Brandon (he’s back!). Again, thanks to Longhorn for filling out the 14u roster.
And the 18u team finished the season with its best performances, improvement seen throughout the team, especially compared to last fall. The team finished fourth after putting an early scare in the Longhorn side and then running out of gas against Zilla in the final matchup. Those athletes will soon be starting their high school seasons with better skills and a lot more experience. Well done Michael, Colby, Sam, Alexander, Dylan, Tristan, Jake, Zairis, Nathan and Diego.
The Lone Star Spring League is now tentatively on the calendar and will feature only athletes from middle school and younger. AquaTex will be hosting one of those days.
Saturday Joint Practice
We’ll be joined at practice by our friends from Longhorn on Saturday, February 2 at 11:00 AM. Be there!
AQTX High School Tournament
AquaTex is on the calendar to host a high school tournament on March 8-9. If past years are any good indicator there should be around 20 games over two days. It’s a great opportunity for us to show off our hosting skills and put some money in AquaTex’s water polo budget. We’ll keep you posted as the event arrives.
Gear
While you can still find our current an small inventory of gear, including t-shirts, at this store we’re looking in to partnering with a well-known aquatic sports vendor who could help us provide a much wider variety of stuff. Again, we’ll keep you posted.
