Things are getting busy! Lone Star League, High School tournament, Thunder Spring Invite, and more.
AquaTex West Region High School Tournament
It’s confirmed that we are hosting a high school water polo tournament on March 8-9. It will begin around 5PM on Friday and will go all day on Saturday. This is a great chance for us to promote the sport in our region, give high schools more chances to compete, and show off our hosting skills that we’ve honed during Lone Star League events. It will also raise significant revenue that helps us keep our fees the lowest in the area. Desk workers will be assigned as they have during Lone Star League events. Parents can expect to hear from Danny Dixon about volunteer roles as well.
Lone Star League Spring 2019
The first of three planned Lone Star League events for our 8th grade and under athletes is on the calendar for Sunday, February 24 at UT. We will be combining with Longhorn as we have the past couple seasons. Make sure to edit your commitment! Two other dates are tentatively on the calendar depending on pool availability. #AquaHorns
Thunder Spring Invite
The Thunder Spring Invite takes place on March 2-3. As with all travel tournaments we will combine with Longhorn. 18u and 16u athletes are definitely encouraged to go too. If we have enough 12u athletes we’ll send a team of them up there too. An athlete’s age is determined by his or her age on August 1, 2019. Register here as soon as possible so we can share the info with Longhorn. Coach Matt will be leading our athletes along with Coach Tom.
Spring Kickoff Event at UT
In conjunction with the start of Texas’ high school water polo season, Longhorn and USA Water Polo are sponsoring an introduction to water polo for all ages on Saturday, February 23 at the UT Swim Center. Parents, coaches, athletes and potential referees are all encouraged to attend. There is no cost to attend. The day’s agenda includes:

- 11:30 AM: College Meeting. What should parents and athletes know about and do if they’re interested in varsity intercollegiate water polo? What are the benefits, obstacles, processes? Open to anyone interested in the subject.
