jamesesmith Announcement, News 12u, AquaHorns, Champions, Junior Olympics
The Longhorn 12u Coed Team won a gold medal at the 2022 National Junior Olympics at Stanford University today. Three AquaTexans were key members of the team that won five straight tournament matches to bring home the championship trophy from the tournament’s Gold Bracket.
The win comes one year after the Longhorn 10u team, comprised of several athletes from this season’s 12u roster, earned a championship at the 2021 National Junior Olympics in North Texas.
The club is enormously proud of the entire Longhorn effort and grateful to Coach Tom for leading the team to victory. But special congratulations to AquaTexans William, Isabelle, Rudy-Matheo, and Wes who helped them earn their spot at JO Quals. Congratulations to all of them.
Here’s the entire roster for those who played at JO Quals and/or NJOs in California:

The day after West Region High School Championships are complete, Alamo Area Aquatics Association plans to host a Game Day for middle school and younger athletes. It will take place on April 24 at the AHISD Natatorium. Age groups are determined by grade. AquaTex will plan on combining with Longhorn when necessary as we did for the Alamo Classic a few weeks ago.
The event will take place all day Sunday.
Currently, plans are for all 4th grade and under athletes who are interested in playing to be divided up equally among 2-3 teams and will NOT compete for any particular club.
There will be two divisions: 8th Grade & Younger Mixed and 6th Grade & younger Mixed. Additionally, we will be playing two exhibition games: 8th Grade & Younger Girls and 4th Grade & Younger Mixed. The 8th grade & Younger Mixed division will be playing first thing in the morning, then the two exhibition games, and finishing with the 6th Grade & Younger Mixed division playing late morning/early afternoon. This event will have a championship format with awards and played in two courses running simultaneously. All teams will be guaranteed two games with the games being back to back or with one game break (no waiting around all day for games).
