Sunday Scrimmage Day a Success

Hi AquaTexans. Scrimmage Day was a success and we’re headed to Houston in two weeks.

AQTX Scrimmage Day

It was a very good turnout for our first Scrimmage Day on Sunday. No scores kept but some very solid improvement shown by everyone, including Quin and Jacob helping out Austin WP’s 12u team. Our 14us led an AquaTex/Longhorn contingent with Riley, Luca, Matthew, Nilmary, and Austin leading the charge against Austin WP and Boerne. And our 18u team featured our two newest members, Zhenya and Ace. They joined Mac, Zairis, Alexander, Zach, and alumni Sam and Michael to battle with Longhorn and Boerne. Well done to everyone. It was a great learning experience.

This is a very good way for us to compete against local rivals without the infrastructure required for hosting a tournament. Thank you to everyone who gifted the club to offset the cost of using the pool. We did not charge for teams or spectators to enter, so your gifts are very appreciated. And, if you haven’t already, you can still give to the cause. We suggested $10 per athlete but you can give whatever you want by going to our donorbox.org account, or via Venmo or ApplePay to 650.759.0310.

Also helping our cause was Jolyn, which will give the club 10% of the proceeds from their swim suit sales at Micki, and they did pretty good business during the day.

We will try to put another scrimmage on the calendar in the coming months. Stay tuned.

SharkFest

We’re in! Our 14u team is signed up and will be scheduled for SharkFest at Cy Fair October 19-20. A schedule is supposed to be published today. Families who are planning to go should make sure they’ve emailed Danny Dixon about hotels and other plans.

If anyone from other age groups wants to participate we can likely find you a team to play for, so let Coach James know.

Masters

Finally we’ll be getting our masters practice going this Saturday from 11:30 to 1:00. Masters will piggyback our youth practice, which will be from 10:00 to noon. There are rumors that we may add Wednesday evening scrimmages too.

Also, we have much more information about the Dallas Fall Masters Tournament. Let Coach Neil or me know if you’re want to get a team together.
